DVORAK Keyboard

Ok, so I have been trying to learn the DVORAK style of typing. Which is supposed to be better for you and much faster. It is very hard to unlearn what I have taken the past 8 years to learn. Above is a picture of the layout of a DVORAK keyboard.

You do not actually need to buy one of these special keyboards to type in this style, you just need to covert your keyboard from the 102 US standard to 102 DVORAK in your regionals settings. Here's how:

  1. Go to "My Computer"
  2. Open the "Control Panel"
  3. Open "Regional and Language Options"
  4. Click on the "Laguages" tab
  5. Click on the "Details" button
  6. Under "Installed Devices" Click "add"
  7. Input Language is English (united States), Keyboard Layout is United States DVORAK
  8. You are ready to go!

I tried learning DVORAK once when I was younger -- before moving to college. Thought it would give me an edge. I got pretty good at it too ~75wpm, but I could never do it enough -- so many computer labs and things everywhere force you to type on their keyboards, and yeah, you could change the settings and stuff, but what's the point? Unless I could get significantly better -- say 120 wpm, or even approaching speech, why bother?!

Peace people

We love you
